Let's dance
The Ballare lets you enjoy the carry and maneuverability of Puakea OC1 designs with a partner. It allows either or both paddlers to steer, making it a great learning tool. Its low drag design lets you push the limits of flatwater speed and its shorter length gives unparalleled maneuverability in the surf. With a narrow hull, it has a good waterline with smaller paddlers but enough reserve buoyancy for two larger paddlers. And the ama is rethought, with less wetted surface that lets the Ballare turn on a dime and run down the wave with minimal interference. Overall, the Ballare brings something new to OC2s.

Standard model for customization, Pro model for weight
The Ballare comes in two versions: Standard and Pro. Standard Ballare allow more freedom for personalization while Pros are made as light as possible.
STANDARD
In designing a Standard Ballare you can choose from 16 colors for the hull, ama, and logos in any combination you'd like. And you can add customizations, like a deck-hull split, a colored cockpit, graphics from our catalog, or ones of your own. Standard Ballare also come with fitted dust covers for the hull, ama, and iakos.

PRO
Ballare Pros are lighter than Standards by an average of 2.6lbs|1.2kg. The layups are essentially the same - almost all of the weight reduction comes from limiting the amount of paint used and sanding what there down to a thin layer. This gives Pro models a distinctive sanded-through look. Because of this, Ballare Pro hulls can only be 5 colors (Pro Grey, Pro White, Pro Blue, Pro Green, and Pro Yellow) and hull customization options are limited to coloring the cockpit and logos. However, the ama can be any color and, unlike standard models, so can the iakos. Ballare Pros also come with a second rudder and a set of UV-resistant fitted marine canvas covers for protection from long-term outdoor exposure.

Safe, Responsive, and Feather-light Steering
The Ballare features lightweight carbon pedals with titanium hardware that will never corrode. It can be configured to steer from the front, the back, or both cockpits simultaneously, and it can be reconfigured on the fly. The steering cables are Dyneema, an ultra high-strength, low-weight composite fabric that's twice as strong as stainless steel cable at 1/5th the weight. It has a covered self-centering rudder mechanism that keeps the canoe moving straight when the paddler stops pressing the pedals - especially important in the unlikely case that your cable breaks mid-paddle. And you can choose from 5 prepreg carbon-titanium rudders to fit conditions: from a 4" for minimal drag in the flat to an 11" for grip in the biggest conditions, plus swept-back options to keep weeds off.

Outriggerzone construction
Outriggerzone canoes like the Ballare are unique in being built as a single, seamless piece, reducing weight and eliminating weak points like glue lines. Outriggerzone canoes are also made with prepreg carbon fiber, a construction method adopted from the aerospace industry, which has high-tempature-curing resin impregnated into it. This allows us to carefully control weight, eliminate dilutents, and deliver a canoe that doesn't deform over time.
